Welcome to Class 103!

I am looking forward to a happy and productive school year!  To help ensure a wonderful and successful year the following is an overview of school and class expectations.

Attendance/Punctuality

Morning Arrival Procedures:

  •     Line up in the cafeteria.
  •     Breakfast begins at 7:40 am
  •     First period begins promptly at 8:00 a.m. Lateness will result in your child missing instructional time.

Dismissal

  •       All children will be dismissed at 2:15 p.m. Dismissal is adjacent to the Main Entrance-Exit 2
  • Please be on time and avoid crowding the area near the exit door.
  • Please note, NIA after school program children and bus children will be picked up from their classrooms.

Parent/Teacher Communication

  •    Class Dojo will be used as a communication between home and school.
  •    Class Dojo is checked daily and your child’s teacher will respond at their earliest convenience.
  •    Google Classroom-Emails and passwords were sent via dojo. Will be utilized in the event we are remote.

Tuesday afternoon-Parent Engagement Please dojo me to make an appointment.

 

Housekeeping

  •     If your child is absent, please send in a note on your child’s return to school.
  •     Bring in a change of clothing in case your needs to change.
  •     If there will be a change in the usual dismissal procedure, please let us know in writing.
  • Snack-Please provide a healthy snack. NO PEANUTS

Birthday Parties

  • Children may celebrate birthdays in our classroom.
  •      Parents are permitted to attend.
  •      Please let us know a week in advance when you would like to send a treat for the children. Please understand, time must be scheduled for this celebration.
  • GOODIE BAGS ARE NOT PERMITTED. This is school policy. If sent in, unfortunately it will be sent home.

Medical

  • Please keep the school nurse and myself informed of any allergies or medical conditions your child may have.
  • If your child is sick and stays home from school, please sent a Class Dojo message in the morning.
  • Absent notes must be handed in when your child returns to school.

 

**Reminders:**

    Please check Class Dojo daily! This is our main source of daily communication.

    Please sign all notes immediately and return the next day.

    Please check and SIGN ALL Homework, every day.

    Kindly sign behavior calendar each night.

    Wear your uniforms everyday.

    Gym uniforms and sneakers need to be worn on gym days-Monday and Tuesday.

    Every Friday is a dress down day.

Behavior Management Plan

Green means your child had a wonderful day! Everyone begins each new day on green. 

Yellow is a warning. It means something went wrong.  However, your child can go back to green after correcting the issue. 

Red means your child was unable to correct the issues that took place in class that day. He/She will be spoken to regarding the behavior and contact with parent will follow.

Homework Policy

  •     Home work is assigned Monday – Thursday. No homework on Friday.
  •     Homework is differentiated and individualized to meet the needs of each child.
  •     Homework must be signed by a parent.
  •     Parents will be notified when two homework assignments are missed.

Daily Reading Books

  •     Students will choose 4 books to read for the week; 2 on level, 1 below level and 1 above level.
  •     Every Monday morning students will change their books in a bag.

*Small group instruction-focusing on meeting student’s individual needs as well as working toward meeting grade level standards.
